additional $2.8 million.
  • “I share with you, the community of the Diocese of Oakland, the deep
commitment to provide Catholic education to families who are most in
need. Catholic education is a vital commitment the Church will continue
    to honor.

I know that we can count on the generosity of people like you to share
the gift of a Catholic education in our schools. Your support of the
FACE program can make a difference in the lives of the children. You
offer parents and children hope for a promising future and this helps
impact the future of the Church and our community.”

  • Dear Friends of FACE,Anne Dolan Rynders

This year marks 30 years since Barbara Morrill and Sister Sebastian Adza joined together and, with the blessing of Bishop John Cummins, established the program that would become FACE (Family Aid-Catholic Education). And so, this year, we celebrate the vision of these two women and
to the early supporters who are known as the “Founders of FACE.” Their great generosity and impassioned belief that every child deserves a quality education have given rise to 30 years of making a difference in the lives of struggling families. During this time, $16 million in grants have been awarded to 19,000 students. Now that’s cause to celebrate!

We also celebrate our FACE 12th graders who graduated last June. 100% of our 62 graduating Seniors, Class of 2007, are continuing their educations at many of the UC and state campuses, as well as other universities across the country. With your financial help, our students have proven they can be successful!

We celebrate our commitment to supporting each child as early as possible and as long as possible. Our granting process is built on that commitment as we serve low-income children from kindergarten through high school graduation. We firmly believe this will make the most impact on the lives of these young people and the success of our graduates proves that.

We celebrate the generosity of donors like you. You have helped nearly 1,000 deserving students go to Catholic school this school year. In order to keep these children in Catholic school and provide support to students from our growing waiting list, we count on your help–we need your support and we need you to help gather new supporters for FACE.

So please help us celebrate! Tell a friend about the FACE tuition assistance program. Share some of the students’ stories from our website. Witness the power of Catholic education in action by attending a school tour. Invite your friends to attend the upcoming FACE auction dinner on April 5, 2008, and hear students tell their own stories of the value of Catholic education.

Or give a gift of $1625 and provide a full grant for a bright young person to attend Catholic school next fall. They, too, will have the opportunity of graduating from one of our Catholic high schools and making a dream of college become a reality. And together we will celebrate!
